this has to be the worst area to hold a race ............................. how are you supposed to race when the scenery is like this ....

agreed, rather not go - no one is going to make it to the finish, they will all be chilling in the vine yards sipping the wine.

BC 400 & JUNIORS NATIONAL OFF-ROAD: 24, 25 AND 26 SEPTEMBER, WORCESTER

Just over three weeks to go to the BC 400, the final two rounds of the Totpak National Off-road Bike/Quad Championship (24 and 26 September) and the final round of the Raslouw Academy Junior National Championship (25 September).
This race will be hosted by the Western Cape Off-road Club and will take place from Brandvlei Kelders winery outside Worcester in the Western Cape. It will be the first time in 3 years that the national off-road series returns to the Western Cape and this race promises to be an awesome experience!

It is a long weekend with Thursday (24 September) being Heritage Day and Friday (race day for the juniors) a public holiday! Even more reason for a nice, long weekend away – and what better place to go to than the Cape AND to spend it doing LOTS of racing!

Herewith a few important notes:
1. Entries are open. Go to www.dirtracing.co.za – Online Entry to enter.
YOU HAVE TO ENTER FOR EACH RACE SEPARATELY!
2. If you want to race for the first time this season and do not have a User ID yet, pleae send us an e-mail with your name, surname, ID number and e-mail address and we will supply you with the necessary information.
3. The race will be two separate rounds of the national championship. This means you can compete in each event with a different bike/quad (but you have to finish each day with the same bike/quad you’ve started with)
4. The points have been updated and posted on www.dirtracing.co.za – go to 2015 Racing and the BC 400 race.
5. The races are part of the Western Cape Regional Off-road Championship, but it is a ‘closed’ championship and ONLY Western Cape regional competitors are allowed to enter it.
6. Accommodation listings on www.dirtracing.co.za – 2015 Racing – BC 400 / Juniors (there are no facilites for camping at the pits. You can camp if you are self-sustained)
7. Find photos about the routes / area on Dirt Racing (Facebook) – click HERE for the link to the album
8. T-shirts: You can order your t-shirt (see photo) at R100/adults and R70 (kids sizes up to 13/14 years). Order from Carol Whiltshire (carol@vdslaw.co.za / Wiltshires@yebo.co.za) BEFORE 15 September!
9. Order wine: If you want to make sure you have a ‘special’ bottle(s) of wine (see photo), order NOW! (Order from Carol) – Chenin Blanc and Merlot at R30/bottle. There will be some of these wines on sale at the cellars.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

We hope to see you all at the BC 400 and Junior event

17 - DAYS TO GO TO BC 400
While the Western Cape Off-road Club (the organisers of the upcoming BC 400 & Juniors nationals on 24, 25 and 26 September) and the promoters of the two national series (juniors and seniors) are still working hard to make sure everything will be going right at these three national events (on three consecutive days), the entries are only coming in in drips and drabs...
So much so that we will have to wait a while longer before we can really do a 'preview' for the race.
In the meantime, we decided to take a look at some of the early entries in the national QUAD category and if these riders (who have not competed in the Totpak National Off-road Championship) can throw in spanner in the (championship) works!
Only one quad rider from the Cape, Jean-Claude Vlok, competed in the nationals this year, but he had some bad luck and will hope for better luck in Q1 at his home race.
It will be great to see former national regulars, Clive and his son, Kevin Crouse, back in action. Clive will be standing his man in the Master Class where George Twigge, who is training hard for the 2016 Dakar Rally, is aiming to take his second consecutive SA National Master Class Championship title.
The riders behind Twigge are all quite close together and if Clive can handle the pressure between these relaxed, though serious national competitors, the outcome can be quite interesting.
We last saw Kevin competing in the Junior National Championship. He has recently recovered from a serious motocross (bike) injury and will be competing in Q1 where the pace at the front - defending Q1 champion, Brian Baragwanath and former Open Class champion, Stefan 'Swanie' Swanepoel, are in a tight battle for this year's title - has been extremely hot this year.
Craig de Wet and Eddie van Loggerenberg have both entered in the Senior Class. Consistent performances by Stuart Freeman (five consecutive victories) and up and down results by those behind him, mean that Freeman has already wrapped up the title, but two class wins and lots of points are still up for grabs for the rest.
The ladies competing in the Ladies Class as well as the Combined Ladies Championship (for bikes and quads) have been very consistent this year. Having a look at the Combined Ladies Championship, the Tzaneen scholar, Wilmari Moller, currently leads the defending national champion, Liezel Barnard, with the Richard's Bay scholar, Jade Schutte, third and biker Taye Perry fourth. If the 'Drop Points System' is being implemented at this stage, Barnard (who could not finish the Swaziland event) leads Moller by only ONE point while Perry overtakes Schutte for the third place.
The situation can however easily change and new names on the entry list can play a huge role in these title battles.
One of these names, is Julia Moths who will travel all the way from Namibia to compete in the two BC 400 events.
We can not wait for 'The Finals' and hope to see LOTS of action in all the classes of the quad category.
With the racing starting on the Thursday (24 Sept) already, entries close earlier and we would like to request that competitors get their entries in ASAP. Also: please see earlier posts on how/where to order your t-shirts and wine!
Enter via www.dirtracing.co.za - Online Entry - or contact us if you require any information.

Good day off-road competitors!

With less than two weeks to go to the BC 400 and BC Junior events on 24, 25 and 26 September at Worcester, just a few bits and pieces of information:
1. Entries close this Friday (18 September) – late entries close Tuesday - and we urge you to please enter by this date!
2. Please make sure that you have entered for both rounds (rounds 6 on 24 Sept and round 7 of 26 Sept) of the Totpak National Championship) separately!
3. Regarding documentation: SENIORS - you will do documentation only once, on Wednesday between 14:00 and 19:00 at Brandvlei Kelders (and on the mornings before the race between 6:00 and 7:00).
a. You have to give in an incident report form and your transponder at the end of Thursday’s race
b. Collect a transponder again on Saturday morning before the race (if you do NOT do that, you will race with a FLAT /non-charged transponder!)
c. Hand in your incident report form and transponder at the end of Saturday’s race.
JUNIORS: Do documentation on Thursday afternoon (or Friday morning before the race between 6:00 and 7:00) and collect your transponder on race day!
4. There will be prize givings after each day (Thursday, Friday for the juniors and Saturday).
5. The jetting strip will be open at Brandvlei Kelders on Wednesday afternoon ONLY.

Make sure you know what the race regulations stipulate about the race; the sequence of the loops; the scheduled programs etc.

Travel safe and see you at the BC 400!

Re: TOTPAK NATIONAL OFFROAD: BC 400 WORCESTER- 24 & 26 SEPTEMBER

OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONS HAD TO WORK HARD FOR NATIONAL TITLES AT FINAL
The final two rounds of the TOTPAK National Off-road Motorcycle and Quad Championships, the BC 400 that took place from Brandvlei Cellars outside Worcester in the Western Cape, will be remembered as being tough and demanding on riders and their equipment and blistered hands, sore bodies and hammered racing machines were proof that these two races will go down as the hardest of the 2015 season.
With almost all the national championships still to be decided at the BC 400, competitors felt the pressure and the dusty (but scenic), rocky and even sandy routes in the valleys as well as the fact that there were two events over three days (Thursday and Saturday) to complete, added to the excitement.
Each day started with a time-trial of between 50 and 55 kilometres that determined the starting order for the 300 km race.

• Media release attached
• Photos:
o George Twigge (businessman from Hartswater) claimed two more victories in the Master Quad Class to claim the title for the second consecutive season, a great achievement before he tackles the 2016 Dakar Rally.
o Louw Schmidt (Brother Leader Tread KTM) won the OR2 National Championship in the motorcycle category after two wins at Worcester.
