Topic: Latest news with licensing offroad bikes? Posted: 27 Jul 2010 at 12:54pm |
|
So I financed part of my Gas Gas trials bike I bought in December 2009. Time comes to renew my car license and it is rejected. Apparently I owe a license fee, penalties and arrears to the tune of R617.90 on the Gas Gas. WTF? Don't the dealers normally do the licensing? I can't find the copies of the stuff I signed when I bought it to check.
I think remember reading something a while back about them doing away with licensing offroad bikes, anything come of this?

sorry for you Afraid all you can do is scrap the bike then it is removed from enaaitos, but then you can't insure it
So pay up and smile, my KX has a numberplate and full roadworthy

If you finance anything - it is licensed

Wrong - As long as it is on finance from the bank they have the papers
You can not scrap anything if you are not the registered OWNER and TITLE HOLDER
Even if you setlle, you still need to transfer ownership from the bank to your own name

Same happened to us. Would not release car's license disk until my 6 month old bike's license was paid. Did not even attempt to phone the stealer i bought it from. (Why didn't they pay or charge me?) You might as well pay it. Yearly. Sorry for the bad news.

Same here when I recently bought another ride, the outstanding fee's for the GasGas license had to be paid. I supplied them with the letter I received from Trevor saying that these bikes do not have to be registered, but no luck.

had the same!! paid licencing fees at the dealer but time came for me to do the cars disks and they would not release it because of outstanding fees on my rm.
sent in the forms and stuff for my rm and picked up my disk (never knew offroads have disks and number plates but anyway)
pay the all 6 my vehicles licenses yearly!! even the paid off ones

Yeah it would have been nice for the dealer to inform me though, could have avoided the penalties. But now what about the KTM, how come I am not having to pay for that?

just pay for your licenses, it helps curb theft too! and gives the buyer of your scoot piece of mind, you will also struggle to get bikes without papers across borders if you go to lesotho or botswana, or swaziland.... they dont always check, but if they do, you could have your scoot impunded..

Laminate your license disc & keep in your bum bag, if the boys in blue ever stop you when you cross a road etc, it will save you a turdload of hassles, mine has saved me on a few occasions.
