Thanks Decal Mania. Had a look at the pics and the terrain looks great. Did this race last year and although I didn't finish, it was the best one for the year. When riding there it actually feels like your in Lesotho Im doing this one, who els?

Yeah that second lap was a bitch in the rain! I think the wet rocks had more traction than the clay!

This report from Brett Waddle (wobs)
Right Guys and Girls, for all the keyboard racers out there, and nitro gearing specialists. Was up in Pomeroy on the weekend doing a pre ride of the course for the 7th August. WHAT A NICE COURSE Craig Van Heerden has done a fantastic job once again.
We will be starting from the same place as last year at the JR hotel, the course then heads out the way it came back last year. The track is made up of a lot of cattle / goat paths and tracks with some awesome up and down hills such as clutch hill (spectator point), 3 tiers, Bursacks beast, a awesome off camber section next to huge riveen that ends at a waterfall (less the water at this time of the year). Very nice section not that many of you will appreciate the beauty during the race I'm sure, and no high sides . School hill is a rocky uphill up to the top of the plateau, where we start heading for home. This will definitely test your fitness and sort out any clutch problems if you don't ride good lines.
The paths are cattle / goat paths but they are quite wide and more than one line is available most of the time. On that note it has been brought to my attention that riders are not giving way or moving over for faster riders, I know its their responsibility to pass you, there is no need to start racing them when they come up behind you. Lets be serious if they have caught you through your dust or a tricky section they are faster than you ! so let them go. This makes for better racing and less bottle necks at trickier section.
Exhaust guard will be an advantage if you want to keep your pipe in good shape, and maybe slightly shorter gearing as the average speed will be lower, make up your own minds.
The loop is approximately 40 Km long and the altitude is 1100m to 1500m for those worried about jetting.
As mentioned before the terrain in Pomeroy perfect for Roof training, so anybody out their planning on doing the Roof this year, this should be the one event you do to see how well your training is going. You Have 15 yes 15 weeks to the Roof. The terrain is also very similar to Lesotho. So start entering and get ready for one of the best races in Natal.
See you at Pomeroy
