Ok I've sent Entries in, Scoot has new Racetech Supension for my hefty ass.. so maybe my bike won't become a bucking bronco over 80ks an hour...

I heard there is a fun ride the day after? is this true? Cause my pit crew all want to ride the course on Sunday:)

AMSOIL XROSS COUNTRY INLAND CHAMPIONSHIP EVEN STRONGER IN THE SECOND HALF!

The new AMSOIL Xross Country Inland Championship series for dirt bike and quad competitors has taken the Gauteng and surrounding areas by storm and after the first four events of the season, the championship is now in full swing.

Organised by the Gauteng Off-road Club (GOC), the aim of the AMSOIL series, as it has become known between racers and enthusiasts, is to present off-road racers on all levels with well-organised events within a two hour drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria.

Races were hosted at Naboomspruit in the Limpopo Province; at Witklip on the outskirts of Bronkhorstspruit; at Rhino Park just outside Pretoria and at Lekoa Lodge close to Villiers. Most of these venues will be hosting a second round of the series later this season with Rhino Park the host for the upcoming event on 7 August.

There are various classes for competitors – except for the 450cc Class; the Open and Senior Classes in the quad category where riders and their race quads have to comply to the rules as set out for the national off-road championship, there is also a class for lady quad racers as well as a class for junior riders between the ages of 16 and 18 years while owners of 4x4 utility quads can compete in a separate class which turned out to be very popular.

So far this season more than 130 quad riders have competed in the various rounds of the championship where Danie Coetzer (FD Racing KTM) is leading the overall standings as well as the Open Class. EMD Racing Lonestar PEP’s Brian Baragwanath (Yamaha) and André du Plessis (Suzuki) are respectively second and third overall while Baragwanath is also leading the 450 Class with Du Plessis second.

In the motorcycle category competitors can ride in either the 125cc Class; the 200cc Class, the 250cc Class or the Open Class while a class for juniors, ladies and senior riders is also an option. Deon du Toit (Dirtstyle Suzuki) is currently leading the overall standings as well as the 250cc Class with Kobus Jonck second and leading the Open Class while the youngster Tyron Miller (Miller Moore Honda Sandton), is leading the 200cc Class and is rounding off the overall podium. More than 250 entrants have competed in the motorcycle category so far this season.

For Saturday’s Rhino Park 200, competitors have to complete a well-marked loop of 65km loop three times and for this event, it will be the turn of the two-wheeler brigade to race first. They will start at 08h00 while the quads will start their race at 12h00.

The organisers expect more than 230 entries for the race that will form the fifth round of the 2010 series.

A total of R14 000 prize money is up for grabs – R7 000 for the bike and quad categories each where the first six overall finishers will receive from R3 000 (first) to R200 (sixth).

Spectators are most welcome to spend the day in the company of the racers, event organisers and sponsors. There will be food and refreshment stalls to cater for hundreds of spectators that are expected. Rhino Park is situated just off the R515 approximately 35km east from Pretoria and 11km from Rayton.
